New Boreal Standby Shack On The Rise

ImageSteve Myler, with help from Ken High, Erich Bauer, and Dan Parkinson, has been spending lots of his spare time up at Boreal erecting a new standby facility in the place where the old one formerly stood.  The forest service would not allow us to torch the old standby shack, so it was taken to Soda Springs instead (mice included).  The new unit has a larger back porch and a real door.

Patrollers should be able to fully kick the snow from their boots before entering the room. The roof is much higher to accomodate more interior storage.  And there is gobs of insulation in the walls and floors.

The roof is on and final details remaining are carpeting and benches  on the inside. Basis elements of weather can be kept out.  A work party for final finishing details may be scheduled.
